Hello! I’m Francesca from Mrs Eliot Books! I studied Graphic Design and Illustration and went on to work briefly in book publishing, but I was gripped by the travel bug and wanting to do my own thing.
So in 2006 I opened my first etsy shop under the name birdie1973 selling my little wooden books, and since then my collection has grown and I have steadily added more and more retailers around the globe, while juggling pregnancy and kids.
My blog started purely as a work blog yet slowly but surely I learned to open up and now I mainly talk nonsense while showing works in progress, inspiration, etsy finds and family life. I really enjoy sharing stuff and making connections.
If you’re intrigued about the name, when I was at art college The Middle Age of Mrs Eliot by Angus Wilson was the first book I bought from the second-hand shop to tear up and use in my work. Sorry Mr Wilson.
I live in London with my husband Ben and two noisy boys.
